Tik Tok Algorithm 2021: How to increase followers

Tik Tok is undeniably the fastest growing social media platform in 2021.

Whether you are a student, marketer, or aspiring influencer, having an extensive outreach is something to work towards. With Singapore’s Tik Tok scene growing rapidly (@mingweirocks with 18M followers!), we’ve gathered some tips and tricks for fast growth.

Before you begin to question: who are we? How do we know all these?

You can check out our Tik Tok account, conveniently named @studiorecreate.

We are still on the journey to getting to our goal, but we’ve hit some milestones along the way:

Our most viewed video has 368.8K views!

Despite it being our first time attempting Tik Tok, our first video actually blew up real fast. 56.6K?!

However, the views did not match up for the subsequent videos. Hence, we’ve done more studying and experimenting, and here’s what we’ve gathered:

1) User interaction is key!

For every video we’ve posted, we got everyone to comment, like and share. Through organic interactions between users and creators, you will be able to build a supportive community of users who will constantly return to watch and support each other.

2) Retention counts!

In order to entice viewers into watching the full video, shorter videos work better. This is because TikTok prefers content that makes people stay on the application longer.

On top of that, captions must be captivating. Add sentences like “Wait for it…” or “You won’t believe what happens next”, so evoke curiosity in viewers, making them want to watch till the end.

Another tip is to drag out the final moment. Don’t give people what they want immediately: make sure they are holding onto the cliff to see what happens!

3) Consistency counts!

Although many say algorithms are random, we’ve gone through the top users worldwide, concluding that accounts that grow fast tend to post every single day. If you’re planning to make TikTok content creation into a career, it’s best that you invest time and effort into constantly keeping your users engaged.

4) Video quality matters!

As a production house, we are fully equipped with industry-grade filming equipment which has allowed us to produce high-quality videos. I't’s no surprise that viewers would stick with HD resolutions more than low-quality ones.

If you don’t have your own set of equipment, fret not! We have them for rentals as well. The term “Caught in 4K” has been trending for quite a while, and it shows how people are beginning to value high resolutions as more people get serious about being a content creator.

5) Good filming location is essential

Did you know that our most viewed videos are all filmed in the studio? If you don’t have a good location to do your lives or film some quality content, we always have room for aspiring producers to utilise our space, which is conveniently located just 5 minutes away from the MRT.

6) Lighting is more crucial than you think!

With the support of Philips Hue lighting, natural sunlight and motorised blackout curtains, our studio is extremely flexible in setting the stage for your videos. We’ve filmed emotional love stories with an onion (what?!) and mixing weird foods all in this space. Talk about fluidity!

All in all, getting famous on any platform is about consistency, effort and creativity. Don’t give up! Some might have certain advantages that we all envy, but with effort, anything is possible. :)
